Is Mike Piazza, who retired from baseball this spring, also leaving New York for good? A Brown Harris Stevens listing for the catcher’s Hudson Street apartment made an appearance on Streeteasy.com on August 7—the 2,561-square-foot duplex with a private rooftop was priced at $6.8 million. Curiously, that listing was abruptly marked NO LONGER AVAILABLE just five days later, suggesting that Piazza either made a super-quick sale or changed his mind about selling. Piazza, who finished out his career with the Oakland A’s last September, bought the place in 2004, his penultimate year with the Mets, for $4.14 million and managed to get it photographed for Elle Décor during his residence. Presumably, he didn’t have much of a mortgage—the team paid him $16 million in 2005. (Calls to Piazza’s representatives went unreturned by press time.)
Farther uptown, Renaud Dutrell, the new president of the LVMH luxury-goods conglomerate, has found a place to stay Stateside: A source says he just rented a chic triplex on the Upper West Side for $16,000 a month, through Corcoran’s Tim Cass.
