Profile

Founded in 1941 by the late Joel Weiser and currently run by his son Bernard, 67 Wine offers an ever-evolving inventory of over 8,000 bottles intended to quench a range of oenophilic thirsts. The ground floor is dedicated to white wines and spirits, and the open and airy oak interior features sliding library-like ladders used to retrieve the higher placed (and priced) bottles. The chardonnay grape is particularly well represented here, with large Burgundy and California sections. A second floor has a cozier feel and offers a smattering of international red varietals, with a particular emphasis on Barolo, Rioja and limited “cult” California Cabernets. Also upstairs is a small bar counter used nightly for tastings, as well as a notable collection of Riedel and Stolzel glassware, decanters and hand-crafted bottle stoppers for sale. Grappas, eau-de-vies, cognacs and about 300 half bottles (red and white) round out the upper level’s stock. Can’t make it off the couch? The website features tasting notes, and delivers throughout Manhattan.
