The demise of the 26th Street and other area flea markets is truly depressing. After all, most home furnishings sold at retail are starting to look the same everywhere, regardless of price. Luckily, this Website satisfies my need for that different thing not everyone else has. The stuff on hiandlowmodern.com is not cheap, but it’s very good, and the fact that I don’t need to wake up early to battle with serious flea market shoppers is even better. The ceramics and glass sections are gorgeous and they have some very groovy (and reasonably priced) rugs (look under the “mod” section). I personally fell in love with this Italian plastic wine caddy ($85). Warning: a glass of wine and a high-speed internet connection is a dangerous combination.
