Review
This documentary charts the unlikely success of Pearl Fryar, a humble factory worker who countered his small town’s racism by building a miraculous three-acre topiary garden that went on to attract busloads of visitors and no small amount of acclaim for the man himself. But while Fryar is worthy of the attention, the film feels suspiciously like an advertisement—and the cheesy score does it no favors.
