Profile
Unleash your inner child at this classic Central Park attraction. The original carousel was installed in 1870, but fires consumed both it and its successor. This carousel was hand-carved and hand-painted in 1908 (back when it was pulled by blind horses), and then assembled in the park in 1950. It is Central Park's fourth and one of the largest in the country, with 58 horses that are almost as big as their living counterparts. Organ music plays during the ride, adding to the old-school charm, and rentals are available for birthday parties and events.
